A Down syndrome Friend
Annie is made with a variety of soft and snuggly materials like Jersey Knit fabric. These materials are kid-friendly, and parent-friendly (you can easily spot clean). Annie is 12.8 inches tall and lightweight. Her arms, legs, and tush are sown together in a way that makes her fun and easy to hold and also able to sit upright by your side. Her blue and yellow uniquely created butterfly pattern is important to Annie as it represents awareness for people with Down Syndrome. In each doll’s clothing print, you can find a nod to the olive branch which is a universal symbol of “peace” and part of the Selma’s Dolls logo. Annie and the rest of the Selma’s Dolls collection is designed for kids ages 2 and up.
The Annie doll also comes with the illustrated storybook, “First Day of School,” a magical story where Selma overcomes her first day of school fears through the help of her new friends (Ameena, Annie and Lola). The book also includes a letter to you (the parent/caretaker) and conversation starters, so you can feel comfortable starting the discussion around differences without feeling like you need to be an expert. We feel the book and doll will help you create sweet and special memories with your child while celebrating the beauty, diversity and uniqueness in all of us.
